Trump to Pull US From UN Migration Compact

US pulls out of global compact on migration

While the USA is proud of its leadership on migration and refugee issues, the global approach is not compatible with the nation's sovereignty, according to Nikki Haley, the U.S. ambassador to the UN.

"But", Haley continued, "our decisions on immigration policies must always be made by Americans and Americans alone".

"The New York Declaration contains numerous provisions that are inconsistent with United States immigration and refugee polices and the Trump Administration's immigration principles", she said in a written statement tweeted by the U.S. mission to the UN. Nikki Haley, the USA ambassador to the United Nations, explained in a statement that the pact's "global approach" was "simply not compatible with US sovereignty".

The United States has quit negotiations on a voluntary pact to deal with migration because the global approach to the issue was 'simply not compatible with U.S. sovereignty, ' said U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley.

This is the second United Nations accord from which the new administration has withdrawn.

As a result, President Donald Trump determined that the United States would end its participation in the Compact process that aims to reach worldwide consensus at the UN in 2018.

At the time of its adoption, the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi called the declaration "a political commitment of unprecedented force and resonance" that filled "what has been a perennial gap in the global protection system ― that of truly sharing responsibility for refugees".

Delivery driver for Amazon caught pooping in Sacramento driveway
The video shows a contracted driver delivering an Amazon package defecating on the curb, right next to a homeowners driveway. Bautista came home shortly afterwards, and told KCRA that he immediately noticed the human waste at the end of the driveway.

The UN General Assembly president expressed regret at the United States decision, saying no one nation can manage global migration alone.

He added that the USA "has the experience and expertise to help ensure that this process leads to a successful outcome". She believed the US could influence the global negotiations on migration if it participated in the Mexico meeting, according to the magazine, but she was "ultimately overruled by the president".

The US decision to withdraw will delight Trump's "America first" political base, but will do little to improve his standing in developing countries.

Under Trump, the USA has also withdrawn from many global commitments, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal, the Paris climate agreement and UNESCO, the U.N.'s culture and education agency.

According to a report in Foreign Policy, a group of national security advisers met with President Donald Trump last week to discuss sitting out the conference.

In a statement, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said that the program was not consistent with American immigration policies.

During his election campaign, President Trump warned that refugees allowed into the United States could become a great "Trojan Horse" that could harm America if left unchecked.
