Trump Calls On Saudis To Immediately Lift Blockade Of Yemen

A Saudi-led coalition has been fighting in Yemen since March 2015, seeking to restore the ousted President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi.

But that alliance unravelled over the last week, with heavy fighting across the capital, and Saleh was reportedly shot dead by Huthi fighters after he fled the city.

Everyone knows that it was Iranian intelligence that provided Houthi militias with Saleh's plan of action, and gave clear instructions to take him and his companions out in cold blood.

Houthi rebels in Yemen have held dozens of journalists captive for days at a television station in the capital and a media watchdog has demanded their immediate release. The Anadolu Agency quoted sources, as saying, that the mortar shell triggered the fire at the embassy premises.

The Saleh-Huthi alliance had been fraught since its inception in 2014, when the two ended decades of enmity and joined ranks to capture Sanaa from Hadi's government.

Following Saleh's death, the Saudi-led coalition was reported to have blitzed Sanaa with an intensified campaign of airstrikes. This comes after a dramatic week that saw the elder Saleh abandon his Houthi allies, who killed him and routed his family's forces from the capital Sana'a in street battles.

A video circulating online on Monday showed Saleh's body with a gaping head wound dumped in a pickup truck by rebels — a grisly end recalling that of longtime strongman Saleh's contemporary, Libya's Moammar Gadhafi, in 2011.

Four members of family killed in crash
Mrs Keevey was buried yesterday afternoon after a funeral mass in St Mary's Church in Cushinstown, not far from the crash site. A statement from Bolingbrook Police Department in IL said father-of-two Steven (49) had served with the force for 17 years.

Mohamed Ali al-Houthi, a rebel leader, said Tuesday that "some sons" of Saleh have been hospitalized, without providing further details.

The conflict has seen civilians repeatedly killed by bombing and through a lack of access to essential food and clean water. The coalition threw its support behind Saleh when he turned on the rebels, and may now back his son.

It also shatters hopes by Yemen's Saudi-backed government that Saleh's recent split with the Iranian-backed rebels, known as Houthis, would have weakened them and given the government and the Saudi coalition backing a chance for a turning point in the stalemated war that has brought humanitarian disaster.

The Houthis and Saleh's forces began fighting each other in Sanaa last week.

But over the past year, the Houthis appear to have undermined Saleh, wooing away some of his commanders.

Clashes in the Yemeni capital have killed at least 234 people and wounded 400 since December 1, the International Committee of the Red Cross said on Tuesday.

Worldwide aid groups warned today they were losing the ability to reach civilians in Sanaa. Speaking to reporters by phone from Sanaa, he said that "at the same time, people are bracing themselves for more".
