Get your first look at 'X-Men: Dark Phoenix' starring Sophie Turner

In outer space for a "rescue mission", they encounter a powerful solar flare that ignites Jean Grey's (Sophie Turner) full power and awakens the cosmic force known as Phoenix.

At the very least his focus on apparently Turner's Jean and Chastain's unnamed character caught Chastain's interest, an actor with very passionate and public views on the role of women in film.

There are so many great X-Men arcs to choose from, but I think focusing on personal stories and fewer characters is a way to ensure the movie connects with an audience.

"It's about the butterfly effect of this thing happening", said Turner.

Matt Lauer Ouster Announcement Works Well For 'Today' Show, Ratings-Wise
Ad buyers told Variety they're not expecting any notable ratings fluctuations once Lauer's replacement anchor has been selected. But when that news is about " Today " itself, the audience response to the program can be quite surprising.

Sophie Turner told EW she studied multiple personality disorder and schizophrenia in order to play Jean's duality. I'm not saying every movie needs to be political, but they all have the potential to be about so much more than destruction and boss battles.

Lastly, it's important to realize that this will be the X-Men's first film with an intergalactic angle to it. The last time we saw her in X-Men: Apocalypse, she was training the young X-Men in the Danger Room. That first-look magazine spread included the first images of Game of Thrones' Sophie Turner as Jean Grey/Phoenix, as well as some new details about the film's storyline and villain (Jessica Chastain).

X-Men: Dark Phoenix hits theaters November 2, 2018. Jean will be joined by Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) Quicksilver (Evan Peters), Charles Xavier (James McAvoy), and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) in the movie. James McAvoy, who plays Professor Xavior, told EW it promises to be "the most emotional X-Men we've done and the most pathos-driven". What a shock? "Pride is starting to get the better of him, and he is pushing the X-Men to more extreme missions", Kinberg says.

In a photo (below), we get our first glimpse at the character, which has Chastain abandon her red locks for a platinum blonde look. Long-time X-Men producer, Simon Kinberg, is making his directorial debut with Dark Phoenix. "Honestly, the person who most really wanted me to direct was Jen Lawrence", says Kinberg.
