A Florida native, Taggart spent four seasons as the coach at South Florida from 2013-16, going 24-25, and was the coach at Western Kentucky (16-20) for three seasons prior to that.

Cristobal, 47, who was the Ducks' offensive coordinator last season and was named interim coach after Willie Taggart's departure for Florida State, and is considered a key factor in the Ducks' efforts to land a highly ranked recruiting class. Recruiting is considered an even higher priority than usual in coaching searches because of the new 72-hour early signing period which begins December 20.
Sources, led by NBC Sports Northwest and including ESPN and in player tweets, said Friday that the Oregon Ducks have chosen Mario Cristobal to replace Willie Taggart as head football coach.
Taggart bolted Tuesday for the top job at Florida State, and Cristobal - the co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach - was named interim coach for the Las Vegas Bowl. The program was 1-11 the year before Cristobal took over. He coached at Rutgers from 2001-03, then coached at Miami from 2004-06. "His commitment to the full student-athlete experience, his fierce desire to compete, his passion for recruiting, his love for Eugene and this university". Cristobal won Recruiter of the Year in 2015 but I'm not sure how hard it is to recruit to Alabama. Florida State (6-6) will face Southern Mississippi in the December 27 Independence Bowl.
