Lomachenko: Rigondeaux is Not a Big Win For Me, Not His Weight

Lomachenko v Rigondeaux

Throughout the fight Rigondeaux had trouble finding his range and kept tying up and fighting dirty, refusing to let go of clinches, the referee had to deduct a point for excessive holding.

That's certainly fitting, seeing as how so many of his recent opponents have been forced to quit in the middle of their fights against Lomachenko.

Legendary boxing promoter Bob Arum described Lomachenko as "unbeatable" and questioned whether Rigondeaux had "hurt his hand in the dressing room" after the Cuban failed to land many blow on his opponent during the match.

Lomachenko (10-1, 8 KOs) earned his seventh straight victory by stoppage and defended his WBO 130-pound title.

Vasyl Lomachenko won his NY showdown with Guillermo Rigondeaux, who retired on his stool after six rounds.

Rigondeaux, who moved up two weight classes to face Lomachenko in a battle of two of the world's elite pound-for-pound fighters. I had felt his style, I knew what he could do.

"I can't tell you how disgusted I am", Smith said. "Can we at least expect a fight?"

Hanukkah is a time for Jewish families throughout the world to celebrate the miracles of the past and promises of the future. It is observed for eight nights and days.

"I lost, no excuses", Rigondeaux said through an interpreter.

The Olympic gold medalist for Cuba at 119 pounds in 2000 and 2004 would have preferred it at a lighter weight, where he wouldn't be giving up size to a fighter who has the offensive arsenal of Lomachenko.

It was tense in the fifth round, when Rigondeaux was warned for hitting on the break and they jawed at each other after the bell sounded to end the round. He's explosive. I'm gonna come back because that's what I do.

Moments later, it was over.

It was a huge anti-climax to the highly-anticipated bout between two Olympic gold medallists, with Rigondeaux moving up two weight classes to take on his opponent. Stevenson (4-0, 2 KOs) outclassed Oscar Mendoza (4-3) before referee Sparkle Lee stopped the featherweight bout midway through the second round.

Interviewed after the fight, Lomachenko said that his win against Rigondeaux "was not a big win for me" noting that Rigondeaux was much smaller than himself.

Conlan peppered Molina with combinations to the body and left uppercuts to the chin in the arena where he made his professional debut previous year on St. Patrick's Day.
