New 'Ready Player One' Trailer Further Reveals Spielberg's Return to Blockbuster Filmmaking

New Ready Player One Poster Released Ahead of Tomorrow's Trailer

Based off of the popular 2011 novel (with an audiobook read by Star Trek alum Wil Wheaton), Ready Player One stars Tye Sheridan (X-Men: Apocalypse) and Olivia Cooke (Bates Motel), directed by the legendary Steven Spielberg with a screenplay by Cline and Zak Penn.

His Pentagon Papers drama The Post opens in theaters in just a few short weeks, and in March we'll be treated to the project he actually completed shooting before starting on Ready Player One, an adaptation of Ernest Cline's cyberpunk bestseller Ready Player One. "It's true. I can't talk about it too much, but there's no better inspiration for a writer [than] to return to a world they've already worked on when they're watching Steven Spielberg bring that world to life". The person who finds it wins $500 billion and control of the Oasis. Seeing Spielberg direct this film is such a dream come true for every geek out there. We got our first look at the movie when the teaser trailer debuted at San Diego Comic-Con this past summer. Which is why this new trailer is quite welcome.

So how many Easter eggs did you catch in the Ready Player One trailer?

The new trailer is drenched in '80s pop culture and music and is anchored by the iconic Back to the Future Delorean (which Cline arrived at the Drafthouse in).

Tamba Hali active for Chiefs, Raiders' Amari Cooper set to play
Chiefs coach Andy Reid has never lost to Oakland at Arrowhead, standing at 4-0 entering this contest. In short, we've got a loser leaves town match between the Raiders and the Chiefs in Kansas City.

"The film is set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse", a synopsis said.

Next we see Mark Rylance (Dunkirk, The BFG) as OASIS founder James Halliday, who left behind a huge pop culture Easter egg hunt in the alternate world before he passed away.

There's a good chance you'll find more than a couple of well-known characters from either games or movies in Ready Player One's trailer.
