Patriots to sign Kenny Britt to 2-year deal

Kenny Britt

Coming off a rough offensive performance on Monday night, the Patriots are adding a receiver.

Nearly exactly a year after they claimed Michael Floyd on waivers, the Patriots have signed former Browns receiver to a two-year contract, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

ESPN's Adam Schefter corroborated the report, while NFL Media's Ian Rapoport revealed that Britt will be signing a 2-year deal with New England.

Britt, 29, played his college football at Rutgers University for Greg Schiano, who has recommended several players to Bill Belichick.

Magnitude 6.0 aftershock quake hits Kerman, Iran
On November 12, in one of the deadliest earthquakes, a magnitude 7.3 quake struck the border region between Iraq and Iran. An natural disaster measuring 6.2 in magnitude struck southeast Iran's Kerman province on Tuesday, state media reported.

He had spent the first five seasons of his career with the, who had selected him with the 30th overall pick in the 2009 draft.

Hauling in just 18 receptions for 233 yards and two touchdowns - that works out to $583,333 per catch - Britt made a bigger mark with a string of ugly drops and pressing questions about his desire from the coaching staff.

Britt's release wasn't without merit, as he had failed to live up to the 4-year, $32.5 million contract he signed with Cleveland last offseason.

How Britt fits into the offense will bear watching. But Brandin Cooks, Chris Hogan, Danny Amendola and perhaps even Phillip Dorsett are ahead of him on the wide receiver depth chart, to say nothing of the prominent role tight end Rob Gronkowski and the Patriots' running backs have in the passing game. He was found not guilty but was suspended one game by the NFL. Floyd scored a touchdown in the Patriots' Week 17 win in Miami and also delivered a memorable block, but he was not on the same page with Tom Brady in a divisional round win against the Texans.
