Venus Williams will face no charges for deadly auto crash

American tennis star Venus Williams will not be charged in a fatal two auto smash in June that killed a passenger in the other vehicle, according to the U.S. media quoting the Florida police.

Now, police said the seven-time Grand Slam singles champion was not at fault and "Based on this investigation and relevant Florida statutes, no charges will be filed".

"Ms. Williams clearly violated our client's right of way because our client had a green light, as indicated in each and every police report issued in this case to date", Steinger said in a statement. That sparked a series of events that ended with a Hyundai sedan, driven by Linda Barson, running into the passenger side of Williams' SUV which was stopped in the intersection.

On June 9, Williams was involved in a vehicle collision with Jerome Barson and his wife near Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

The lawsuit stated that Barson's injuries included "severed main arteries, massive internal bleeding, a fractured spine, and massive internal organ damage". The tennis star was not injured.

Williams has not commented publicly on the report reportedly clearing her of blame.

Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe 'eligible for early release'
Last week her anguished husband Richard revealed he believes there is "still a chance" she may be released by Iran for Christmas. Both her family and Thomson Reuters stress she was not involved in any work regarding Iran while there.

"I was caught in the middle", Williams told a responding officer, according to Alanez and Pesantes.

"I needed a change", she explained.

"You got stuck in a bad situation", he said. "And I'm not 100 percent sure in this case, because you had the right of way but lost the right of way".

Tennis champ and goddess-on-earth Serena Williams has had quite an eventful year, having given birth to her first child in September and then tying the knot with her love Alexis Ohanian at a star-studded fairytale wedding a couple of months later.

Surveillance video released in July supported Williams' account of the crash, showing that she was cut off by a left-turning Nissan Altima as she passed through the intersection, causing her to stop momentarily.

Jerome Barson was admitted to the hospital with lacerations to his spleen and pelvic and spinal fractures. The Barson family attorney said police were wrong and that they would sue Ms Williams.
