Rohit Sharma Stars As India Thrash Sri Lanka To Clinch T20I Series

Less than ten days after scoring a record double hundred, Rohit Sharma produced yet another devastating inning against Sri Lanka as the stand-in Indian skipper recorded the joint fastest T20I hundred that came off just 35 balls.

On Friday (December 22) in the second match of the three T-20 series, Sri Lanka has chose to bowl first after winning the toss against India.

Chasing 261 for victory, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 172 runs.

# Rohit took 35 Balls to reach his hundred - the joint-fastest in T20 Internationals along with David Miller, who scored his knock against Bangladesh in Potchefstroom couple of months ago. Sharma smashed 12 fours and 10 sixes after India were put into bat.

Rohit became the third player after Chris Gayle and Brendon McCullum to hit two centuries in this format.

165- The partnership between Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul in the second T20I, the highest by any Indian opening pair against Sri Lanka in T20Is.

Mamma Mia 2 Trailer Arrives

10 sixes by Rohit, the most for India, against Sri Lanka, and on Indian soil.

While in the absence of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the Side in rest of series matches as well and his men for today's encounter may include KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Dinesh Karthik, Manish Pandey, MS Dhoni as wicketkeeper-batsman, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Basil Thampi, Jasprit Bumrah, and Yuzvendra Chahal.

But just when things seemed good in the middle for the visitors, Tharanga top-edged the ball which was perfectly caught by spinner Yuzvendra Chahal in the 14th over.

The Sri Lankans withered, especially after the departure of Perera, who scored his seventh T20 half-century off 26 balls.

In response, Sri Lanka started quickly, too. With the Indian batsman in hot form, the Lankan bowlers wouldn't like to get hammered the same way they were at Cuttack.

In absence of the first-choice opener Shikhar Dhawan, Rahul grabbed the opportunity with both hands hitting seven fours and one six en route to a 48-balls 61 after they were put in by Sri Lanka skipper Thisara Perera.
