Newcastle United end four-match losing streak with win at West Ham

Newcastle United moved out of the Premier League relegation zone as it claimed a first win in 10 games with a pulsating 3-2 victory over West Ham on Saturday. That was something we had talked about, the importance of getting away from the bottom.

The hosts got off to a flying start when they went ahead after only five minutes as Marko Arnautovic capitalised on a mistake from Henri Saivet before running in on goal and beating Rob Elliot.

"It was a pity not to win them and have a bad run".

Henri Saivet was handed a shock return to an injury and suspension-hit Newcastle midfield after nearly two years since his last league appearance.

Rob Elliot preserved the lead as he saved a controversial penalty from Andre Ayew, who set up a grandstand finish by partially atoning for that miss after Christian Atsu had made it 3-1.

Moments later West Ham were gifted the chance of an equaliser when Clark fouled Michail Antonio, and, although the challenge was just outside the area, referee Lee Mason pointed to the spot. Andre Ayew missed a penalty in the 55th and it was to prove costly as Christian Atsu made it three on the hour mark for the visitors.

West Ham restored hope eight minutes later when Ayew netted from close range after Carroll had parried substitute Andy Carroll's header, but Newcastle held on to their one-goal advantage without too much issue to earn a much-needed three points in the capital.

Union sues over Facebook job ads excluding older people
Goldman said that the practice was appropriate so long as the overall marketing by a company was "broad-based and inclusive". The same is not true of race or gender-based discrimination laws that are more strictly enforced, the report explains.

Meanwhile, Newcastle chief, Rafa Benitez, said: "I think it's a great day for our fans, for our players, for everyone because we have been working so hard for so many games".

The Hammers also saw Andre Ayew miss from the spot before he finally found the net late on in a performance that will leave David Moyes hammering his defenders.

"It was going to be a test with expectations changing towards us winning, but it showed today that we could not do that".

"A totally error-strewn game, Moyes said". We're not necessarily a club who will spend hundreds of millions to get there in the short term. We made big mistakes with the first goal.

However, Saivet redeemed himself nearly immediately, lifting a 25-yard free-kick over the West Ham wall and inside Adrian's near post to bring his side level after 10 minutes.

"If we'd won we'd be talking completely differently about our league position - this game could have made a big difference".

"If we could have got back to 2-2 we were in the ascendancy that's for sure", he asserted.
