Isaiah Thomas wants to make season'something special

He returned to the team but re-aggravated the injury in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semi finals against the Wizards and did not play the rest of the season.

When the Cavaliers initially agreed to the deal with Boston for Irving, concerns with Thomas' physical led to the trade being held up for a few days until the Celtics added a second-round draft pick to the package. Because he's unable to play in back-to-back games while the Cavs bring him along slowly, Thomas will not play against his old team on Wednesday night, as the Cavs open a five-game road trip in Boston. Cleveland will have had two full days off to integrate Thomas and prepare for the meeting with Portland.

Thomas averaged a career-high 28.9 points per game last season as well as six assists per game and a career-best 54.6% effective field goal percentage.

Ben Stokes set to be withdrawn from England ODI squad
Time has run out for Ben Stokes to be included in England's one-day series in Australia as his exile from worldwide cricket continues.

Lue is reportedly keeping Thomas on a minutes restriction, considering his lengthy time away from play and the need to steadily recover. The guard is ready to finally make his long-awaited Cavaliers debut, and Cavs fans will be happy to hear that his return is just around the corner [VIDEO]. Iman Shumpert, another player who was filling point guard minutes for Cleveland, has also been out.

Thomas has missed the Cavs' first 36 games of the season due to a hip injury. But the Cavaliers are still the team to beat in the East, and they are about to get better.

The Cavaliers and Trail Blazers will face off in Cleveland at 7 p.m. ET Tuesday night on NBA TV.
