More Than 20 Are Hurt in Bronx Apartment Fire

At least 12 people were injured early on Tuesday after a huge fire tore through an apartment building in NY, reports said. "Four people are critically injured, fighting for their lives, and there are other serious injuries as well".

Firefighters broke windows to get residents out of the building as the fire continued to rage in the upper floors.

Photos from the scene showed the entire building wrapped in smoke as flames became visible.

The massive fire comes less than a week after another fire, caused by a child playing with a stove, killed at least 12 people, including several children.

India, Pakistan exchange 27th list of nuclear installations
New Delhi asked Islamabad to confirm their nationality expeditiously so that they could be repatriated to Pakistan. New Delhi says Jadhav was kidnapped in Iran where he had legitimate business interests, and brought to Pakistan.

"Children starting fires is not rare", FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro said on Friday, adding that the stairway "acted like a chimney". The cause of the fire was not immediately revealed.

Last week's fire was started when a three-year-old boy ignited his mum's apartment by fiddling with her stove in the early hours of the morning.

Mayor Bill de Blasio called it the "worst fire tragedy we have seen in this city in at least a quarter century".

Apartments are located above the first floor of the building.
