Paladins is Adding a Battle Royale Mode Called Paladins: Battlegrounds

Paladins is stepping into the Battle Royale ring with Battlegrounds mode

Hi-Rez Studios is bringing a 100-player Battle Royale mode to its free to play, Early Access hero shooter Paladins in the form of Paladins: Battlegrounds. Games like Grand Theft Auto V and Fortnite have added "Battle Royale" modes which have gone over well with fans.

If this sounds familiar, it should, because it follows the same basic formula as other games in the genre like PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Fortnite: Battle Royale.

As with every Battle Royale game, Paladins: Battleground also features the constricting fog mechanic that makes the playable zone more smaller as time goes by.

Paladins: Battlegrounds will be a standalone game, separate from Paladins, and will be supported separately. Heroes will be able to hop onto their mounts and start exploring the map, looting all sorts of gear to take on other players. The Paladins spin on the mode will come, of course, in the variety of abilities employed by their roster of champions.

In related news, Hi=Rez also announced a new Team Death Match mode, a new map and there 's also the keynote speech from the expo (see videos below).

Paladins has been a well-received hero shooter on both PC and consoles. When Paladins was first released, multiple comparisons were made between the game and Overwatch, Blizzard's hugely popular squad-based shooter.

Paladins: Battlegrounds was "designed from the ground up to be played in teams", Hi-Rez said, and will retain the main game's class-based team composition.

With a debut trailer that may as well be called PaladinsUnknown Battlegrounds. As expected, the last team standing will be the team that emerges victorious.
