Hundreds protest in Europe, US in solidarity with Iranian uprising

Seyyed Hossein Naghavi Hosseini told Mehr News about the recent UN Security Council session and the U.S. attempt to bring up the topic of the recent protests in Iran and said "the United States has always interfered in the domestic affairs of other countries".

Naghavi said that the USA marshalled all its forces and capacities to turn the conditions in Iran into a crisis and asserted "Ambassador Haley's call for emergency United Nations session on Iran protests was another interventionist measure".

"And let there be no doubt whatsoever: the United States stands unapologetically with those in Iran who seek freedom for themselves, prosperity for their families, and dignity for their nation".

Haley went on to destroy the Iranian regime, denouncing their involvement in the Syrian civil war and supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

There is a long history of United States bullying at the UN, and the case of the Iranian protest was a preposterous example of interference in the purely internal affairs of a nation.

Haley, who is becoming known for her firebrand United Nations speeches, told her United Nations colleagues the US unequivocally supports protesters in Iran, who have been protesting for more than a week for their freedom.

Sweden's envoy, Deputy Ambassador Irina Schoulgin Nyoni, appeared to sum up the view of many on the Security Council: "Human rights violations must be separated from JCPOA".

Iran should be allowed to deal with its own problems, he said asserting that the Council should not be involved in destabilising Iran.

2 planes collide on the ground at Toronto's airport
The Transportation Safety Board was onsite at Toronto Pearson Friday to investigate the collision, the airport confirmed.

Observing that the Council's primary responsibility is maintaining worldwide peace and security, Wu Haito of China said that it should not be the venue for discussing the human rights situation of any country.

The UN charter empowers to the council to "investigate any dispute, or any situation which might lead to global friction", and the US wasn't alone in thinking the Iranian protests qualified.

British Ambassador to the UN, Matthew Rycroft, refuted the Iranian allegations and said that no one is forcing Iran onto their agenda. Up to 42,000 people took part in the protests, according to Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, who has said the clerically overseen government exhibited "tolerance" toward the demonstrations.

France's ambassador to the United Nations told the meeting that recent protests in Iran do not threaten worldwide peace and security.

He said his government has "hard evidence" recent protests in Iran were very clearly directed from overseas.

US President Donald Trump has come out in support of the protestors.

People around the world held up Iranian flags and signs calling for the removal of the regime.

The Trump administration has denied having any hand in the demonstrations, saying they arose completely spontaneously. (Notable, given press freedom issues there.) As quickly obtained by Inner City Press from multiple sources, they wrote: "Dear friends, To keep you informed, tomorrow SC meets on Iran at 3.00PM, open format".
