Packers promote Brian Gutekunst to general manager

The man replacing him will come from a similar mold, as the Packers chose to give in-house candidate Brian Gutekunst as their new general manager.

The Green Bay Packers couldn't seem to get any external candidates to interview for their vacant general manager job, so they went with an in-house candidate.

According to multiple reports, the Green Bay Packers have hired Brian Gutekunst as their new general manager and will be inking him to a five-year deal.

It's unclear what the development means for Ball or Eliot Wolf, the director of football operations and, technically, a superior to Gutekunst.

Schneider, a Wisconsin native, began his National Football League career with the Packers as a scout in 1993.

President Trump orders 'cease and desist' on tell-all book
On the topic of North Korea, he said he would "absolutely" engage in phone conversations with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. "Why did you feel the need to tweet about that this morning?" he was asked.

The #Packers are swinging big on their GM search.

The Houston Chronicle first reported Sunday that Gutekunst had taken the job.

That's good news for Mike McCarthy, who reportedly isn't in good graces with Ball and could've been out as the Packers' head coach if Ball was named GM. He has also served as the Packers Director of College Scouting and most recently Director of Player Personnel since 2015.

Gutekunst has spent 19 years working in the Packers' personnel department.

Gutekunst has been Green Bay's player personnel director for almost two years, though he has been with the Packers' player personnel department for almost two decades.
