Google Memo Author James Damore Sues Company For Discrimination Against White Males

Fired Google engineer's suit alleges reverse discrimination

The duo say they want to represent all staff discriminated against due to their "perceived conservative political views, male gender and Caucasian race".

The two men are Jame Damore, a former Google programmer, and David Gudeman, a former Google engineer.

Google has not yet commented on Damore's lawsuit.

Google spokesman Ty Sheppard previously told CNNMoney that the company has strong policies against workplace retaliation, harassment and discrimination.

But while he wanted more diversity of viewpoints, he wasn't so kind to diversity when it came to gender. This controversy led to an uproar across the tech world, but also exposed the misogyny that women have to face within the industry. Women at Google, Uber, Twitter Inc. and Microsoft Corp. are seeking class-action status in lawsuits accusing those companies of favoring men for promotions in engineering roles. The memo said that "genetic differences" may explain "why we don't see equal representation of women in tech and leadership".

It says Google's employment practices are illegal, and that they employ illegal hiring quotas to fill posts with women and minorities.

GoPro says open to sale but not actively pursuing
In addition to exiting the drone business, the company is laying off 20% of its workforce, or about 250 employees. Late a year ago , GoPro said it would lower prices for its Hero5 Black cameras after weak demand.

The search engine giant is also now being sued by three women who used to work at Google, alleging it pays women less than men for comparable work. In internal discussion boards, multiple employees said they supported firing the author, and some said they would not choose to work with him, according to postings viewed by Bloomberg News. "We'll continue to stand for that and be committed to it for the long haul".

He claims he was "chastised for attempting to stand up for Caucasian males and his conservative views" by Google's HR department.

The suit claims Google maintains a blacklist of conservatives media personalities not allowed on company grounds: It allegedly includes radio host Alex Jones and conservative blogger Curtis Yarvin.

White male conservatives have it out for Google.

A class-action suit filed Monday in Santa Clara Superior Court in California alleges that Google's management "goes to extreme - and illegal - lengths to encourage hiring managers to take protected categories such as race and/or gender into consideration as determinative hiring factors, to the detriment of Caucasian and male employees and potential employees".
