Cairom - The National Electoral Commission (NEC) of Egypt says presidential election will take place between March 26 and March 28.

Elections for voters outside the country will be held between March 16 to 18.

Results of the first round will be announced on April 2, Ibrahim said.

The three-day run-off round will start on April 24 domestically and on April 19 for expatriates.

Incumbent Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi has not yet said whether he will run for reelection but for the moment there are no candidates that could challenge him successfully.

Shortly following his return to Egypt in early December, the 76-year-old former air force general stated that he would make a decision whether he should run for president after assessing the situation on the ground.

Although he has yet to formally announce his candidacy for the 2018 election, Sisi is widely expected to do so and to earn a landslide victory due to the absence of competitive challengers in the presidential bid.

However, Ali is now awaiting a final verdict for a previous sentencing of three months in prison for offending public decency after making an "obscene hand gesture" during a demonstration outside the State Council headquarters in January 2017.

Shafiq, who fled Egypt after narrowly losing to the ousted Islamist President Mohamed Morsi in the 2012 elections, announced in the United Arab Emirates in November his intention to run for president.
