James Damore sues Google for firing him over his gender memo

Sacked'anti-diversity memo author James Damore sues Google

He is joined in the lawsuit by another former Google engineer, David Gudeman.

The suit claims white men were booed at company-wide meetings: "Not only was the numerical presence of women celebrated at Google exclusively due to their gender, but the presence of Caucasians and males was mocked with "boos" during company-wide weekly meetings".

Now, he claims the company's efforts to increase diversity and eradicate misogyny have had the effect of leaving men and conservative individuals feeling silenced.

Instead, she argued, it aims to protect "three subclasses of individuals" ― men, Caucasian people, and those who hold conservative viewpoints ― from unfair business practices.

Damore also alleges he raised his concerns with Google's human resources representatives - and that they acknowledged conservative workers "did not feel included", according to the lawsuit. "In one example of this, an employee gave a Peer Bonus to another employee, and stated that the bonus was for 'speaking up for googley values and promoting [diversity and inclusion] in the wretched hive of scum and villainy that is [Damore's Memo].' The Google Recognition Team reviewed this justification, considered it appropriate, and allowed the bonus to proceed".

The lawsuit is seeking compensation against Google and an injunction against the company for its alleged discrimination.

The tech giant has denied the claim that its diversity programs are in any way illegal.

Declared dead, man comes back to life on autopsy table
Telecinco report that it is believed that a case of catalepsy is responsible for the man almost being killed by the coroner. Despite signs to revive him, he was declared dead. "Quite the opposite", reported El Espanol .

Google said it looks forward to defending itself against Damore's accusations in court.

In the memo, Damore argued that women are biologically ill-equipped for senior engineering positions, and that Google's diversity efforts should be examined in regards to their "costs and benefits". The manifesto claimed women were more prone to "neuroticism" than men, and essentially tried to make the case that girls just typically don't make good engineers.

James Damore is filing a class action lawsuit against Google.

Not only was Damore fired after his memo went public, but as he puts it, others who spoke out against him were rewarded. It's not a totally surprising filing given Damore filed a federal labor complaint past year and began working with Dhillon during August 2017 on "fact gathering" - looking for other white dudes who felt wronged by Google - for what would eventually become today's complaint. He claimed that employees with conservative beliefs "have to stay in the closet" for fear of retaliation.

James Damore (right) attended a press conference on Monday with his lawyer Harmeet Dhillon (left). I can't believe he actually thinks this lawsuit will go anywhere, but it sets him up for his 15-minutes of fame as a conservative tech mouthpiece.

Not only was the numerical presence of women celebrated at Google exclusively due to their gender, but the presence of Caucasians and males was mocked with "boos" during company-wide weekly meetings.
