Manchester United will subsidise the ticket price increases for their trip to Sevilla by increasing prices for fans of the Andalucian club at Old Trafford.
The Spanish club claims United have not offered their fans enough tickets for the second leg in March.
In addition, to ease the financial strain on their own supporters, Manchester United will use the proceeds of those ticket sales to subsidise those who have bought tickets to the away leg.
But maybe United's tactic will work and eventually lead to Sevilla dropping the price for away supporters visiting their Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium next month.
Manchester United entered a dialogue with their Spanish counterparts but were unable to get them to lower their prices - with a handful of top-tier tickets costing £133.
United plan to use the extra proceeds to help refund their own fans after reacting angrily to Sevilla's decision to charge United's travelling supporters £89 to watch the first leg of their Round of 16 tie in Spain on February 21.
The move comes after extensive talks between both clubs failed to see them reach a compromise or bring ticket prices down.

This is not the first time that HP has been forced to issue a laptop recall over safety concerns surrounding their batteries. Until receiving a replacement, customers will simply need to connect their laptop to a power adaptor to use it.
Sam Kelleher, head of ticketing and membership at United, informed supporters of the plans in an email on Wednesday, which read: "In this instance we believe that our travelling supporters are unfairly being subjected to increased/excessive ticket prices from the host club".
It means Sevilla fans will be hit the hardest, something the Premier League side said was necessary to avoid future clubs trying to rip off their travelling supporters.
In response the English club have announced that they intend to charge Sevilla's travelling contingent £89 a ticket for the return fixture, matching the figure most United were expected to hand over.
UEFA Champions League rules dictate that home sides make 5 percent of the seats available to visiting supporters.
"We have been working with the club since the ridiculous £89 price was known to ensure our fans didn't end up paying this much".
A Manchester United spokesman said: "We are aware of the regulations regarding equal pricing for home and away fans and we will comply. We are delighted United have fought our corner on this issue".
