The Packers are set to hire Mike Pettine as their defensive coordinator, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.

It'll be interesting to see exactly how Pettine puts together the pieces Green Bay already has in place-and what new pieces new Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst brings in for Pettine to play with.

However, Pettine's defenses finished 20th in the league in points allowed in each of the next three years, and the 2015 Browns were 29th in points allowed and 27th in yards allowed. His last job in the National Football League was as Head Coach of the Browns and before that, he spent four seasons as defensive coordinator for the N.Y. Jets under Rex Ryan and one season in Buffalo as DC under Doug Marrone. Pettine's defensive units finished in the top 10 in total defense in all five of those years.

The Packers are seeking a replacement for Dom Capers, who they fired January 1. Pettine eventually worked his way up to become a defensive assistant, and later an outside linebackers coach in Baltimore.

Dylan Farrow's powerful 'Time's Up' statement against Woody Allen
The Hollywood celebrities , she claimed, were complicit in ignoring the sexual assault allegations against the renowned director. The Time's Up initiative made a strong impression at the 2018 Golden Globes to advocate against sexual harassment and abuse.

Pettine was the Browns' head coach for two years before he was sacked after compiling a 10-22 record.

The Packers also considered hiring in-house and had interviewed their remaining defensive assistants: Joe Whitt, Darren Perry and Winston Moss.

Offensive coordinator Edgar Bennett will not return to the team, and many of his duties are expected to be taken up by Joe Philbin.
