Jessica Falkholt: Home and Away actor's life support switched off

Home and Away actress Jessica Falkholt has had her life support switched off two weeks after being in a auto crash, a hospital in Australia has confirmed.

Her sister Annabelle, 21, was also injured and died in hospital on December 29.

When Craig Whitall fatally smashed his Toyota Prado four-wheel-drive into the Falkholt family's vehicle on his way home from a methadone clinic, the 50-year-old had been declared an habitual traffic offender by the courts with more than 60 convictions to his name.

Whitall reportedly had an extensive history of driving convictions, had lost his license for extended periods of time on numerous occasions, and had been heading home from a methadone clinic at the time of the crash.

Falkholt and her 21-year-old sister Annabelle had been pulled from the wreckage after their auto collided with a four-wheel-drive vehicle near Ulladulla on Boxing Day.

The daughter of a couple killed in a Boxing Day crash has died from her injuries in hospital while her sister still fights for life.

Jessica's parents Lars and Vivian were killed instantly in the crash and her sister Annabelle died in hospital three days later. The family has asked for privacy during this very hard time'.

The family of Home and Away actress Jessica Falkholt have been laid to rest.

They previously told Daily Mail Australia an operation on her brain "went well" and they were waiting for the results of the surgery. She passed away surrounded by loved ones who have refused to leave her side since the devastating incident.

"Their lives ending on a highway makes absolutely no sense", he said.

Jessica and Annabelle were pulled from the wreckage by motorists who stopped to help. According to an exclusive report from The Daily Telegraph, Whitall was a habitual offender with four jail sentences relating to traffic offences, a driving ban spanning nine years and 10 convictions for driving while disqualified.

"I always thought we would grow old together", he said.

The family was returning from Christmas holiday.

Meanwhile, back at the hospital where Jessica was still in coma, friends and family surrounded Jessica from her hospital bed during and after the funeral, saying it was important she had support. She's also had roles on other television dramas.
