Leonardo DiCaprio to Join Family of Tarantino's Manson Movie

Leonardo DiCaprio

According to a report from Deadline, Leonardo DiCaprio landed a role in Quentin Tarantino's upcoming movie based on the life and trial of Charles Manson, the serial killer who recently passed away in prison due to old age. After much buzz about the project, rumored to have a wider appeal than Tarantino's previous effort, The Hateful Eight, Sony Pictures emerged the victor, granting the film a $100 million budget and a prime slot in the summer schedule. The Oscar-winning actor has said yes to joining Tarantino's secretive ninth movie and the deal is expected to close very soon. The murder of Tate and her four friends somehow factors into the plot, which has been teased as resembling the multi-narrative structure of "Pulp Fiction".

The pair previously worked together on the phenomenally popular, The Wolf of Wall Street.

DiCaprio will instead take the part of an aging, out-of-work actor in the as-yet untitled movie being produced and directed by Oscar-winner Quentin Tarantino, Variety and Deadline.com said.

The release date coincides with the 50th anniversary of Tate's murder at the hands of the Manson family.

Freezing rain, snow and 'much colder' temperatures coming: Environment Canada
After that the agency says to expect the rain to give way to snow, "with a risk of brief freezing rain during the changeover". CBC meteorologist Jay Scotland said it is possible even Kings County will not entirely escape the freezing rain.

Tarantino has obviously cast DiCaprio before - as the frothing slave owner Calvin Candie in the 2012 film Django Unchained - but that wasn't the first film he wanted DiCaprio for.

Several big-name stars are still circling the secretive project, with Margot Robbie and Tom Cruise being eyed for big roles.

Sony declined to comment.
