US Ambassador to Panama Resigns, Citing Trump Policies

Via U.S. State Department

Feeley is not the first USA official to quit his post under Trump regime.

Throughout his 35 years in both the nation's Marines and Department of State, the ambassador dedicated his efforts to supporting integration and maintaining good relations between the Americas.

The letter goes on to say that he leaves the embassy "in good hands" and the USA relationship with Panama is "strong".

In a carefully-worded letter to the State Department, US ambassador to Panama John Feeley detailed that he will resign effective March 9 because he "might not agree with certain policies" of Trump and his cabinet.

According to multiple media reports, Mr. Feeley in his resignation letter said that he can not serve under the current US President. "That time has come", Feeley said in his resignation letter, according to Reuters.

The US Department of State, which oversees American diplomats, learned of his resignation in late December.

Government begins accepting DACA renewal requests
Trump gave Congress six months to find a way to allow immigrant approved for the DACA program to remain in the USA permanently. However, the administration doesn't have to process applications for those who have never before received DACA protections.

Feeley's resignation was submitted prior to Thursday's controversial remarks.

Some of Feeley'scolleagues have stuck it out at the State Department, saying they feel an even greater responsibility to defend the ideals of diplomacy. But Under-secretary of State Steve Goldstein seemed to confirm as much in comments to reporters on Friday.

She alleged that the U.S. had abandoned human rights as a priority.

Morale at the agency has flagged since Trump took office.

Mark Feierstein, the White House National Security Council's senior director for Western Hemisphere affairs under President Barack Obama, said he's surprised more haven't left considering Trump's behavior and policies.
