U2 pays tribute to Dolores O'Riordan:

Details surrounding the death of Cranberries singer Dolores O'Riordan still in short supply.

The Irish star was found dead in a London hotel room and many celebrities joined Ireland's leader President Michael D. Higgins in saluting the tragic Linger singer, and now Lennox and R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe have added their tributes.

In the United States, O'Riordan-related music sales (i.e. Cranberries and her solo work) are up substantially over the last 24 hours.

"She was an extraordinary talent and we feel very privileged to have been part of her life from 1989 when we started the Cranberries", the band said. "The world has lost a true artist today", they wrote. Although her band was at its peak in the mid-'90s, The Cranberries left a lasting mark, with ethereal songs like "Linger" and "Zombie", which transcended mere rock or alternative music.

Dolores O'Riordan, lead singer of the Irish alternative rock band The Cranberries, has died at the age of 46.

James Walton, priest at Ballybricken and Bohermore parish, told Britain's Press Association her family "is very devastated and upset". As of right now, O'Riordan's death is not being treated as suspicious by London police, and they are compiling a report to give to the coroner to investigate the cause of death.

In her hometown of Limerick, residents braved the elements to sign a book of condolence at the city council offices.

Casino shuttle boat engulfed by flames, dozens safely escape; 1 dead
The Pasco County Sheriff's Office says all of the passengers were able to make it back to shore where EMS crews treated them. Hashim, 50, entered the water to help the struggling passengers — some of whom appeared to have medical problems, she said.

O'Riordan said depression "is one of the worst things to go through", but that "I've also had a lot of joy in my life, especially with my children".

The singer suffered from bi-polar disorder and was spared a criminal conviction after an air rage incident in 2014.

Manager Gerry Brown told The Irish Sun: "We've had customers coming in for looking for The Cranberries last album, Something Else which came out a year ago and has reworkings off their biggest hits, and people are also buying The Cranberries back catalogue".

She joined the band while still in her teens, after spotting an advert for a female singer for rock band The Cranberry Saw Us. At first, my friends and I started singing along for fun, but as we kept going the auto got quiet between vocal parts and we were all deep in it. Dolores O'Riordan released two solo records, 2007's Are You Listening, and 2009's No Baggage.

Following the release of their greatest hits album, and after a decade of recording and touring the band went on hiatus in 2002. British 1980s band Duran Duran posted on their official Twitter page that "we are crushed to hear the news about the passing of Dolores O'Riordan".

"Zombie" was the lead single from the Cranberries' smash 1994 effort No Need to Argue.
