Turkey's Erdogan tells North Atlantic Treaty Organisation will take all precautions for national security

Russia expects Syrian Congress in Sochi to be held in late January — diplomat

Pentagon's stunning statement contradicted with the spokesman for the US -led coalition, officially known as Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR), Ryan Dillon's statement, spurring controversy on Sunday by announcing that the coalition will establish a 30,000-strong new border security force with the SDF in Syria.

Arab and Kurdish fighters with the US -backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), pose for a picture as they prepare to move to the front line to battle against the Islamic State militants, in Raqqa, northeast Syria on July 22, 2017.

Erdogan on Tuesday contacted the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation secretary-general, Jens Stoltenberg, to say Turkey would take all necessary precautions to ensure its national security, presidential sources said.

But the U.S. announcement that it will in northern Syria answers one key question: what happens once the fight against ISIS - led and endured with huge losses by US-backed Syrian Kurds - finally ends?It is clear now that the U.S. is not wholesale leaving the country, but instead planning to train up a 30,000-strong force to keep ISIS from coming back and to assist local Kurds in keeping a grasp on the land they now control northeast of the Euphrates River.

YPG is considered a "terrorist group" by Turkey because of its ties to the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which has waged a decades-long armed conflict in Turkey, killing an estimated 40,000 people.

They said the border force will help defend and preserve the section of northeastern Syria controlled by the Kurdish-led, United States-backed militia known as the Syrian Democratic Forces, an area that has become a de facto semiautonomous zone.

"Continued strategic threats to the U.S. from not just ISIS and al Qaeda persist, and this threat I am referring to principally is Iran", Tillerson said, adding, "In short, Syria remains a source of severe strategic threats".

Turkey's president said Washington was "creating a terror army" and vowed to "suffocate" it.

The Turkish president, Tayyip Erdogan, pledged to crush the new force before it came into existence.

MI family torn apart as husband deported to Mexico
Garcia was brought to the United States by his parents, also illegal immigrants, at the age of 10, according to reports. Garcia's wife, Cindy, appeared on CNN to call on President Trump to fix the "broken" immigration system.

The federal government is refusing to say whether Canada will support the creation of a 30,000-strong border security force in Syria, plans for which have already drawn opposition from Russia, Iran, Turkey and the UN.

The BSF will be largely made up of SDF veterans, most of whom are Kurdish YPG fresh off their fight against ISIS.

Billed as the Trump administration's new strategy on Syria, the announcement will prolong the risks and redefine the mission for the USA military, which has for years sought to define its operations in Syria along more narrow lines of battling Islamic State and has about 2,000 US ground forces in the country. He noted that Turkey will take all necessary steps against provocative actions of the US.

Syria described the formation of such a border force as a "blatant assault" on its sovereignty.

"Let us be clear, the United States will maintain a military presence in Syria focused on ensuring ISIS can not re-emerge", Tillerson said.

Turkey, Iran and Russian Federation, however, need a little memory jogging.

Russian Federation and Syria also condemned the U.S. plan as a violation of Syria's sovereignty. "There is also Manbij and east of the Euphrates River", Turkish media cited Cavusoglu as saying.

"These security forces are internally-focused to prevent (IS) fighters from fleeing Syria and augment local security in liberated areas", it said.
