Apple, Google buses damaged on I-280

An image sent to us from an anonymous source at Apple documenting the broken shuttle bus windows

Four Apple charter buses and one Google bus were attacked Tuesday during the morning and evening commutes along a 16-mile stretch of Highway 280, which connects San Francisco to Silicon Valley, said California Highway Patrol Officer Art Montiel.

Photos sent by an anonymous Apple employee to the website Mashable showed the broken windows on Apple employee shuttle buses.

Montiel said another Apple bus had a window smashed last week along the same stretch of highway, between State Routes 84 and 85.

Certain people at Apple believe someone is purposefully destroying their buses, which transport people from San Francisco to its headquarters in Cuptertino, with perhaps BB guns or rocks, according to Gizmodo.

Buses for Apple and Google employees have been attacked in San Francisco, forcing the tech companies to change the route of the shuttle services.

Montiel said that he could not be sure that the attack was targeted at Apple as the buses are unmarked.

Since-deleted post from Twitter user describing shuttle attack. No one was injured, FOX KTVU reported. However, no injuries to employees have been reported.

However, the buses of each of the tech firms are a distinct colour: Google's are white, Apple's are silver and Facebook's are blue.

The attacks, however, are likely the next step in the protests against the buses of the tech companies, which have become symbols of wealth disparity and gentrification in the area. The safety of their employees is their first priority as they are working closely with law enforcement to examine these incidents and they will notify their employees as soon as the coaches will be returned to regular route, as said by the company. "It's not like they are hidden", he told The Guardian.

Multiple shuttle buses carrying Apple and Google employees were hit by unknown objects in a targeted spree on Tuesday.

Apple is now reportedly rerouting its employee buses as a result of the incident, a move that will add a significant amount of time to workers' commutes.

Thousands of employees use the shuttle every day to get from their homes in San Francisco to the company's head quarters in Cupertino.
