Steve Smith claims ICC Test gong

ICC Awards Virat Kohli named ICC Cricketer of the Year and ODI Cricketer of the Year

Three South Africans have been chosen in the Test squad - Dean Elgar, de Kock and Kagiso Rabada - as many Australians - Warner, Steve Smith and Starc - and Indians - Kohli, Ashwin and Cheteshwar Pujara - have also been chosen.

The ICC Awards 2017 were all about the Indian captain as he also won the award of The ICC ODI Player Of The Year. Virat had previously won the honor of the Cricketer of the year in 2012, when he was just 24 years old. "I am incredibly humbled and I love playing Test cricket - it's the game that challenges your skills and your mind the most".

Kohli scored 2,203 Test runs at an average of 77.80, including eight centuries, 1,818 ODI runs, including seven centuries at 82.63, and 299 T20I runs at a strike rate of 153.

The top order batsman, who shone with the bat in South Africa even if his team dropped 2-0 behind in the three-test series, was also adjudged the ODI player of the year.

It is the first time since 2011 that the victor of the men's Test player of the year award was not also crowned cricketer of the year. It's nearly certainly the biggest of all in world cricket when the two Indians getting it back-to-back make it more special.

The Indian Cricket team had reasons to cheer when Indian captain Virat Kohli was declared ICC Cricketer of the Year for his phenomenal form across all formats.

OR boaters caught on camera jumping into water seconds before terrifying crash
Maess, an off-duty policeman and owner of the wrecked fishing boat, was left in a knee brace and suffered vision problems. Investigators also said that Maess and the other passengers escaped serious injuries or death by jumping into the water.

Apart from Kohli if there was one player who captured the imagination of the cricket watching world it was Steve Smith. The others in the 50-over team included South African former skipper AB de Villiers, Afghanistan's teenage leg- spinner Rashid Khan and two Pakistani cricketers in Hasan Ali and Babar Azam.

The Australians have taken home the award in four of the last five years, with Mitchell Johnson winning in 2014 and Michael Clarke in 2013. "I want to thank ICC for recognising all the hard work we out in for our respective sides and congratulations for all the other winners also", he added.

He also claimed three five-wicket hauls and played a massive role in Pakistan's Champions Trophy win in England - making him a shoo-in for the emerging player gong.

"To make a contribution in big matches and in big series and assist the team is what it is all about for me, and if I'm doing that then there's a good chance that awards like this will follow".

Pakistan, who stunned India to win the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, has been voted by the fans around the world as the inaugural victor of the ICC Fans Moment of the Year.
