'Super Blue Blood Moon' coming January 31 in rare space event

Bob King

A Supermoon is when the Moon is the closest to Earth and appears 14% larger than usual - while a Blue Moon is the second full Moon of a month, which is very rare as normally it happens only once a month.

The moon will pass through Earth's shadow to give viewers in the right location a total lunar eclipse.

A blue moon appears when there are two full moons in one month.

For those who enjoy the wonders of the night sky, prepare for a rare triple treat January 31, with a supermoon, a blue moon, and a total lunar eclipse.

The coolest thing about this celestial event is the lunar eclipse component with this. Some areas have better visibility than others.

Abdul Subhan Qureshi Indian Mujahideen co-founder arrested by delhi cops
Qureshi, who was by now second in command of SIMI, became co-founder of Indian Mujahideen (IM ) along with the Bhatkal brothers. His name had also cropped up in investigations into the serial blasts in Mumbai and Bangalore, the official said.

People living in the Middle East, Asia, eastern Russia, Australia, New Zealand: the best visibility will be during moonrise the morning of the 31st. America's West Coast will get the best look at the blood moon as the eclipse begins at 2:51 a.m. and will last through 6 a.m. Find a spot where there is a clear view of the horizon. The darker part of Earth's shadow will begin to blanket part of the Moon with a reddish tint at 6:48 a.m. EST, but the Moon will set less than a half-hour later, according to NASA. However, individuals in the east won't have the show people on the West Coast will have. Once in a (super) blue (blood) moon, some might say. However, those in Asia and Australia will get the best view of the rare natural phenomenon, which last happened on December 30, 1982.

For those living in the western part of the US, you will have an entire hour to view the lunar event. However, you'll have a further hour and four minutes to view the partial eclipse, which will last until 7.11pm, as the moon comes out from the eclipse.

Eastern Canada will have a more hard time to view since the sun rises at that time.

These viewings are all weather permitting, of course.
