White House On McCabe Stepping Down: Trump 'Wasn't Part Of The Decision'

Why is Trump wasting the chance to hype State of the Union speech

Top FBI official Andrew McCabe is stepping down from his post as deputy director, leaving the bureau after months of conflict-of-interest complaints from Republicans including President Trump.

McCabe's role in the FBI has been the topic of conversation recently, as last week two sources familiar with the matter told ABC News that Attorney General Jeff Sessions has been pushing FBI Director Chris Wray to replace McCabe, his deputy, and install new leadership within the FBI.

Sanders said Monday that the president stands by previous comments regarding McCabe and that the White House has "some concerns" over his work at the bureau.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders told Monday's briefing that President Donald Trump wasn't part of the decision-making process in McCabe's departure.

Trump's firing of Comey in May 2017 as the FBI was investigating potential collusion between Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and Russian Federation led to the Justice Department's naming of Special Counsel Robert Mueller to take over the probe.

Trump reportedly wanted Mueller to leave, but White House counsel Don McGahn said he would resign in response to Mueller's firing.

The US leader has repeatedly called the allegations "fake news" and claimed the FBI was biased in pursuing the investigation.

Emma Tonegato then scored on the same patch of grass with 90 seconds left in the half as both teams struggled for breath. Russian Federation beat the United States 19-14 and Canada beat France 28-12 in other quarterfinals.

McCabe's wife has long-standing ties to the Democratic party; running as a Democrat for a Virginia Senate seat in 2015 and receiving funds and support from senior Clinton insiders -including Governor Terry McAuliffe.

Following news in December of his imminent retirement, Trump tweeted, "FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is racing the clock to retier will full benefits".

"FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is, and has been, a dedicated public servant who has served this country well".

Mr Trump has taken to Twitter in recent months to blast Mr McCabe, asking how he could be in charge of the Clinton probe when his wife got donations from "Clinton Puppets".

A handful of Republican-led congressional committees have launched inquiries into whether the FBI botched the Clinton investigation and showed bias in her favour. In December, McCabe was grilled behind closed doors by lawmakers on some of those panels for hours.

The Justice Department's inspector general is still conducting his own review into the FBI's handling of the Clinton investigation.

Strzok and Page used words like "idiot" and "loathsome human" to describe Trump during the campaign.
