Apple being probed by U.S. agencies over iPhone slowdown

Bloomberg’s Matt Robinson reports Apple is under federal investigation for disclosues made about a software update

After admitting that they sent out updates to purposely slow down older iPhones with outdated batteries last month, Apple is now being officially probed by the US government.

The company later retracted this, stating: "We have never - and would never - do anything to intentionally shorten the life of any Apple product, or degrade the user experience to drive customer upgrades".

Every year, Apple launches a new iOS version for iPhone and iPad users, packing it with several new features.

Earlier this month, CEO Tim Cook told ABC News that when Apple put out the software update that caused the performance issues for older iPhones "we did say what it was, but I don't think a lot of people were paying attention". John Thune (R - S. Dak.), chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee, have also asked Apple to provide more information on the processor slowdown issue.

Apple is said to be the target of separate investigations by the Justice Department and the Securities & Exchange Commission for possible violations of securities laws after reluctantly admitting that it intentionally slowed older iPhone models in an update of its iOS mobile operating system, per Bloomberg.

Verizon's plan to sell Huawei phone suffocated by political pressure
A phone with Chinese 5G networking equipment could feasibly allow a backdoor to U.S. network activity for the Chinese government. In fact, the province of British Columbia and national carrier Telus are now collaborating with Huawei on 5G network tests.

The batteries cost $29 instead of $79 and are available worldwide by going to an Apple Store or Apple certified retailer, or mailing a phone into Apple support.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Apple is cooperating with US government inquiries into its secret slowdown of older iPhones, further complicating its efforts to move past an issue that irked customers whose devices bogged down. They called this their "power management feature", and soon everyone will be able to turn it off easily.

In fact, in a research note published last week, well-regarded Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities suggested that Apple could retire the iPhone X this summer in favor of an iPhone X Plus.

Stay tuned for more tech updates. The handset has the same design as the iPhone 5, although its core specs are the same as the iPhone 6S. However, one major feature has reportedly not been dropped and that's the ability to run iPad apps on Mac. The Health Records feature can also be used to send messages to patients about conditions, medicines and laboratory results. The statement does not clarify which agencies the company has been in contact with. Also, Apple News will include new features to find and view the most important videos of the day. Hai Do was the editor. This growth helped Apple receive a boost in the loyalty for its iOS, with a new record of 96 percent in the US.
