Essential Phone to skip Android 8.0 due to 'stability issues'

Nokia 5 Nokia 6 Android Oreo update now available

What are you waiting for?

The good news is that it is about time the Essential phones will be upgrading to Android 8.1 Oreo.

Honor 9 and Honor 8 Pro owners in the United Kingdom will be able to benefit from the free Oreo update, which focuses primarily on speed and efficiency, with improved boot times and reduced background activity that would otherwise drain battery and data plans. The upshot is the phone's LCD panel goes all the way up to the edge on three sides. However, this will add a couple of weeks to when the device finally gets updated to Oreo.

Trump Admin Wants to Cut Renewable Energy Programs By 72%
For 2019, the administration's draft proposal would lower that request even further, to $575.5 million. The draft budget also is asking for the elimination of the weatherization program.

According to Essential, they claim that this is due to various stability issues that were discovered in Android 8.0 during the testing phase of the update. The entry-level Nokia 3 is yet to make the switch, but the company has announced that an update is "around the corner". Therefore, it's going to direct all its efforts to move the Essential Phone directly from Nougat to Android 8.1. Essential Phone owners who haven't sideloaded any of the Oreo beta builds will get an update to Android 8.1 Oreo when it's released in the next few weeks. Interestingly, this isn't Android 8.0 as earlier promoted but rather Android 8.1 beta already. That being said, both the Honor 8 Pro and Honor 9 have been announced last year, the Honor 8 Pro is the company's phablet, while the Honor 9 is still the company's compact flagships, at least until it successor arrives later this year.

But if there's one thing you can't possibly dislike about the startup company, that's definitely the way it's been handling public relations of late. Google has previously stated that, the new Android Oreo update is designed for the premium Android smartphones of future.
