Nintendo Will Continue Supporting 3DS Alongside The Switch

Pokemon on Nintendo Switch could be the perfect 2018 games launch

Nintendo is expected to reveal more details about Nintendo Switch Online as the launch date draws near. Nintendo Switch Online subscribers will also be able to access the Classic Game Selection service, which contains retro games from Nintendo's older consoles.

This basic feature will then be upgraded with new features such as leaderboards and multiplayer.

This means that in just 10 months it has outsold its disappointing predecessor, the Wii U, which was launched in 2012 and took five years to sell 13.5m consoles before being scrapped as a commercial failure last year.

However, it hasn't been a year since the hybrid console launched so it is too early to speculate for how long Nintendo intends to support Nintendo Switch.

It is not a surprise for Nintendo to make this move.

We also have yet to hear about Virtual Console. 3, Balloon Fight and more.

Gigi and Bella Hadid Leave Fans Uncomfortable With "Disturbing" Naked Photoshoot
Gigi wrote via Instagram on Monday that she was, "Very honored to be your March cover girl, Thank you thank you thank you". Immediately, the youngest Hadid sister was slammed for undergoing Photoshop to alter her face.

Since the launch of Nintendo's Switch, the company's market value has steadily risen.

Supporting the Switch for a longer period might imply that Nintendo will upgrade the platform's hardware in the years to come, although this is merely speculation at this point.

The Switch is an anomaly in many ways, not least the fact that it's Nintendo's second console this generation - after the abject failure of the Wii U. What if down the road I want to play it again?

Nintendo says the project will be led by Shigeru Miyamoto, who designed Mario and The Legend of Zelda, among other popular games, and Chris Meledandri, whose famous works include "Despicable Me".

Therefore, we can expect early adopters of the Switch to benefit from the lengthy lifespan for nearly a decade to come.

The Nintendo CEO also pointed out that the 3DS is critical to the company's business for its affordability and for being one of the first dedicated video game systems for children who have no previous experience with such a device.
