A man fatally shot in New Orleans has been identified as a Black Lives Matter activist known for his leap through police tape at a SC demonstration previous year as he attempted to seize a Confederate battle flag from a protester.

The police found Moye bleeding near a mountain bike on Bienville Street in New Orleans shortly after 1 am. He was transported to the hospital, where he died later that morning, according to police spokesman Beau Tidwell.

Moye made headlines previous year after he was seen leaping over caution tape and snatching a Confederate flag from a protester during a live television broadcast in downtown Charleston.

Last February, Moye leaped a police barricade in Charleston, South Carolina, and tried to take a protester's Confederate battle flag.

After the incident, which resulted in charges for d'Baha, the activist told the Washington Post he had charged at the demonstrator after seeing elders he was speaking to look fearful at the sight of the Confederate flag.

Weaver has reached out to thank donors for helping her family at a hard time, writing: "I can say that our family is beyond appreciative for the outpouring of love and support we've received today". This act (which d'Baha stated was an attempt to "help them understand what it is to meet a real resistance, to meet people that aren't scared") happened at an event where Bree Newsome was speaking. "[Moye] was a light and he will shine on forever".
