Eurostar announces London to Amsterdam service

A new rail service is set to whiz passengers from London direct to Europe's own Sin City: Amsterdam. Tickets will go on sale February 20.

During the initial period, passengers will travel direct from London to Amsterdam and Rotterdam and on the return journey will connect through Brussels where passport controls and security screening will be carried out. It says the market for travel between London and Paris has more than doubled as passenger increasingly choose high-speed rail over the plane.

"With direct services from the United Kingdom to The Netherlands, France and Belgium, we are transforming the links between the United Kingdom and three of Europe's top trading nations".

This week travelers in Europe were given an update on the previously announced round-trip train service between London and Amsterdam.

Extensive preparations have been taking place in advance of the service with comprehensive testing on the new Dutch high-speed network now being finalised.

Leak of Stale iOS Source Code Could Trigger Fresh Problems
Again, the typical iPhone user is probably not in any danger, thanks to Apple's recent security upgrades on their devices. As Motherboard first reported, the " iBoot " code is used to load Apple's iOS when users push the sleep/wake button.

Eurostar says the route is the result of "extensive investment" of £1 billion in high-speed rail on both sides of the English Channel.

Eurostar, the company that runs trains between London, Paris and Brussels, said it would add Amsterdam to its destination list, bringing the Netherlands into its network for the first time.

Travel time from London to Rotterdam will be 3 hours, and to Amsterdam 3 hours and 40 minutes.

These issues mean direct services returning to London will not be in place until the end of next year.

Eurostar's expansion of services is seen by some as a direct competition to go up against flights which are already highly competitive with airlines in constant price wars to gain customers. The company said that travel to Brussels will now be even faster with the new route too, only taking one hour and 48 minutes, instead of two hours and five minutes.
