HTC's Smartphone Head Chialin Chang Quits

The reason for the resignation of Chialin Chang is not clear but as per sources, he has resigned because of his personal carrier plan.

HTC said Chang's resignation is not expected to impact the company's operations since the smartphone brand recently completed an internal business restructuring by appointing five managing directors to supervise its smartphone and artificial virtual operations in Taiwan, the Americas, Europe, North Asia and China.

The HTC president for the phone and connected devices business Chialin Chang has resigned. The move, spotted earlier by Engadget, was announced today and is effective immediately.

So far, HTC has not named a successor to Chang.

Rand Paul slams Republican 'hypocrisy' over government shutdown-ending bill
The bill passed in the House thanks to the support of 73 Democrats and despite opposition from 67 Republican deficit-hawks. Rand Paul delayed a vote on the Senate's massive spending deal, pushing the government to shutdown on Friday morning.

Local media reports said that after leaving HTC, Chang plans to set up a company eyeing the opportunities from the artificial intelliegence (AI) market. "We thank him for his dedication to the Company for the last 6 years and wish him well in his future endeavors".

There is some moving and shaking going on at HTC, which is seemingly the result of Google acquiring key members from the company's smartphone team. HTC for $1.1 billion gave its team to Google.

A few years back, HTC was one of the most popular smartphone makers, getting high praise for the design and quality of its HTC One (M7) and (M8) smartphones. And from the scenarios, it seems like the HTC U12 could be the last of its name, and the company might look forward to mid-range devices onwards.
