NY bomber sentenced to life in prison

Since Rahimi’s arrest two other lone-wolf attackers have carried out bombings in New York

Ahmad Khan Rahimi injured 30 people when he detonated a pressure cooker bomb in Manhattan in September 2016.

The 30-year-old terrorist delivered a rambling and remorseless diatribe before Manhattan Federal Court Judge Richard Berman slapped him with two life terms plus 30 years.

Rahimi, a fast food worker turned homegrown extremist, brought two pressure cooker bombs from New Jersey to Manhattan on September 17 2016, planting them on W. 23 and W. 27th St., officials said.

Rahimi and two police officers were wounded in the shootout.

Berman handed down the sentence in US District Court in Manhattan, ending the prosecution of Rahimi, who was convicted of the high-profile act of jihad-inspired terrorism that was widely considered a near miss, injuring dozens without killing anyone.

Using fingerprints found inside the unexploded devices, authorities tied the Afghan-born USA citizen to a series of bombings that injured 30 across the area.

Her comments were in response to the 13- minute statement Rahimi made before the judge, in which the Pakistani immigrant blamed the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other law enforcement for radicalizing him.

Asked to speak at his sentencing Tuesday, Rahimi said he doesn't "harbor hate for anyone".

Trust the key for Conte as he confirms his commitment to Chelsea
Morata will once again be absent for the reigning Premier League champions this weekend when they face West Brom . Asked why Chelsea have struggled so much defensively in Christensen's absence, Conte replied: "I don't know".

"I've learned to understand why there's such frustration between the Muslim community overseas and the American people", Rahimi said, attributing this understanding to "life experience".

He placed a second bomb on West 27th Street, but a passerby on edge from the blast four blocks away noticed it and called police, and the bomb squad took the device away without incident.

Rahimi was born in Afghanistan but was a naturalized USA citizen.

The day after the Chelsea bombing, two men walking by the N.J. Transit station in Elizabeth found a knapsack containing more pipe bombs built by Rahimi.

"You have no remorse", she said before a silent courtroom.

Rahimi, an Afghan-born man living in New Jersey, was convicted of eight charges in October including using a weapon of mass destruction and bombing a public place, one of which carried a maximum life sentence.

Rahimi let other inmates view the items on his laptop and gave them electronic copies, Kim's letter said.

"Rahimi's conviction and sentencing are victories for New York City and our nation in the fight against terror".
