Want to Lose Weight New Study Reveals that One can shed extra weight by slowing down the speed of eating, cutting out after dinner snacks and not eating within two hours of going to sleep.

Other factors that could assist in losing weight, as per the data, includes not eating within two hours of going to bed and no snacking after dinner.

Eating speed and other behavior were self-reported in the study.

'Eating quickly also causes bigger blood sugar fluctuations which can lead to insulin resistance. Researchers found out that the people that ate at a normal speed were less likely to be obese compared to the fast eaters. It is worth noting that in Japan a BMI of 25 or over is considered obese, whereas in the United Kingdom 25 to 29 is overweight and only 30 and above is considered obese. Fast eaters take a longer time to feel full, whereas slow eaters may feel satisfied more rapidly, which helps them to reduce their calorie intake.

This is an observational study because researchers did not measure calory intake and physical activity, which could have affected the results in an unknown manner. "Slowing down our eating can help us to lose weight provided that it is used alongside other strategies that mean we eat less overall, such as serving smaller portions and making healthier choices".

Interestingly, skipping breakfast does nothing to decrease weight.

The circumstances regarding this case are under investigation and police said further details will be released at a later time. Ramagnano called the response from fellow firefighters "tremendous", with about 100 volunteering to aid in the search efforts.

The World Health Organization considers those with a body mass index (BMI), a body mass-to-height ratio, of 25 to be overweight and those with a BMI of 30 or higher to be obese. The study tracked almost 60,000 people and discovered that how fast they ate and the timing of their evening meal and snacks appeared to be significant factors in whether they ended up obese or managed to lose weight. Only 21.5 percent of participants in a self-defined slow eating group were obese, compared with more than 44 percent of a self-defined fast-eating group, Channel News Asia explained.

When eating too quickly, there's more chance that these hormones won't get the chance to work properly, Rebecca, who is a Nutritional Therapist, said.

People looking to lose weight might try all kinds of ways to eat fewer calories. But those who ate slowly were up to 42 percent less likely to be obese.

Pauses targeted at lessening the eating speed may prove effective in preventing obesity and reducing the linked health risks. Normal eaters made up the majority at 33,455, while just 4,192 people said they were slow eaters.

Commenting on the research, Simon Cork of Imperial College London said it "confirms what we already believe, that eating slowly is associated with less weight gain than eating quickly".

The slow eaters tended to be healthier and to have a healthier lifestyle than either the fast or normal speed eaters.
