Apple Opening Medical Clinics For Employees

"AC Wellness is an independent medical practice dedicated to delivering compassionate, effective healthcare to the Apple employee population", reveals a brief description on the website. The roles indicate this is hardly a standard company clinic where employees can run up for flu shots.

As well as coming hot on the heels of other big USA business plans to provide better healthcare services for their employees, the news is also in the wake of Apple CEO Tim Cook's comments at the latest shareholder meeting.

Recruiting pages indicate that Apple is already working on "multiple, stunning, state-of-the-art medical centers" in two locations - one at the new Apple Park campus, the other in Santa Clara, just north of Cupertino.

Apple is also looking to hire "designers" tasked with implementing staff programmes to promote healthy behaviour and prevent disease, while data from LinkedIn shows former Stanford employees linked with the firm.

Apple is propelling its own essential care wellbeing centers called AC Wellness, following Amazon and Warren Buffett's push into social insurance.

Tourist With Measles Made Contact With 32 People in New York City
The infected tourist started his Manhattan visit at a La Quinta Inn on West 71st Street on February 16 and stayed until the 19th. From Jan. 1-27, nine people from four states-Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana and Texas-were reported to have measles, the CDC said.

The news comes as Amazon announced an effort with Berkshire Hathaway and JPMorgan to improve the healthcare of their employees.

KitGuru Says: Considering the company had only dabbled in its healthcare venture in the past, incorporating features such as a heart rate monitor and activity tracker within its Apple Watch, this is a huge leap.

Another important piece of information that we can gather from the official AC Wellness website is that it will be launched this spring. CNBC first reported the news late Monday.

With costs skyrocketing and a bitter fight being played out in Congress over ObamaCare, Apple isn't the only company eyeing an entrance into health care.

The new venture is part of a growing reorganization of the traditional healthcare provider system and one that seems created to give particularly large employers more control over their healthcare costs.
