Apple's iTunes Store drops support for Windows XP and Windows Vista

Apple's iTunes Store drops support for Windows XP and Windows Vista

If you're still using a first-generation Apple TV, be aware that Apple will cut off its access to the iTunes Store on 25 May 2018 due to security changes. Apple states that on Vista and XP machines, you will still be able to use older versions of iTunes without support, however you will not be able to make any purchases from the store.

Considering the original Apple TV was released back in 2007, this shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

XP and Vista users can keep running older versions on iTunes, but won't be able to upgrade or receive support from Apple. Those new features are not compatible with the first-gen of Apple TVs, which means that they will be barred from accessing iTunes.

South Sudan sentences South African to hang over aid to rebel chief
The panel said that children had been forced to kill civilians and loot and had faced corporal punishment if they did not obey. South Sudan's special high court has sentenced a South African military veteran to execution by hanging.

Apple says that the original Apple TV is an "obsolete Apple product" and will not be updated to support security changes. Meanwhile, you can access the Apple TV app on any iPad or iPhone. They want to make money from the sales, but they also develop and implement new technology that older devices can't support at all (or can't support it in a way that's acceptable to the user).

Microsoft's mainstream support for Windows XP ended on April 14th, 2009, while extended support ended on April 8th, 2014. It's time to move on. The need to download and store content is a thing of the past. Fortunately, DirecTV is currently running a promotion where you can pick up an Apple TV 4K plus three months of DirecTV Now for $105. Good luck, and welcome to the future.
