India captain Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni were rested from India's squad for the Nidahas Trophy, which is scheduled to begin on March 6, 2018. The Indian selection committee, led by chief selector MSK Prasad, rested key players citing enormous workload on the back of successful South Africa tour and India's future schedule.

The much-experienced Dinesh Karthik and Delhi youngster Rishabh Pant are the wicketkeepers. "The high-performance team has suggested that adequate rest should be given to our fast bowlers to help improve athletic performance, maximize rest and prevent injury".

India made five changes to the T20I squad they fielded during the three-match series in South Africa.

Among the more established names, Shikhar Dhawan, Lokesh Rahul, Suresh Raina and Manish Pandey are in the squad.
