Major gun retailer to stop selling assault-style weapons — Dick's Sporting Goods

Sporting Goods also announced it will not sell any guns to those under age 21. Frances Aertsen

Walmart noted it ended sales of "modern sporting rifles, including the AR-15" in 2015 and does not sell bump stocks, high-capacity magazines and similar accessories.

Dick's just announced that it would no longer sell "assault-style rifles", high-capacity magazine and bump stocks and those under the age of 21 would be barred from buying firearms. It will not sell any guns to people under age 21, Dick's chief executive, Ed Stack, said in an open letter on the company's website. The company said he did not buy the AR-15 that he used in the school shooting there.

Additionally, gun control advocates celebrated in Springfield Wednesday after five bills passed the House.

"I can see the Second Amendment, the right to have a gun or something like that, but that was written back in the hunting days".

"If the kids are courageous enough to organize and do what they are doing then we should be fearless enough to take this stand", said Stack.

Some analysts said the 2012 decision did not hurt the retailer's sales, likely giving company executives confidence to make Wednesday's move.

Crowson said there had been no discussion of violent video games in the decision.

South Africa To Reclaim Land Taken From Black People By White Owners
The motion received overwhelming support from ANC and EFF MPs and was passed with 241 votes in favour versus 83 votes against. On Monday, DA chief whip John Steenhuisen said: "The DA will not be supporting this motion".

"We strive very hard to do everything according to the law", he said.

Congress has taken some steps to restrict gun ownership in the wake of recent school shootings, but many Americans say politicians aren't doing enough.

US President Donald Trump says he has told NRA officials that "it's time" to strengthen US gun laws while also suggesting arming teachers to stop school shootings.

Along with the Plattsburgh store the Dick's Sporting Goods in Rutland and Williston, Vermont are also following suit. "Our streets are not going to be safe, unless we take these action". Other businesses have cut ties with the NRA and gun manufacturers. It's also a not-so-veiled recognition of the public pressure that's being put on politicians and companies that sell firearms from those of the far left who insist that guns, not people, kill. It declined comment on the issue on Wednesday.

The only major retailer that continues to sell assault-style weapons is Bass Pro Shops and its subsidiary, Cabela's.

The Pittsburgh-based company pulled weapons like the AR-15 in December 2012, after 20 first graders and six teachers were fatally shot at Sandy Hook Elementary School in CT.
