Samsung Galaxy S9 Trumps the Google Pixel 2's Camera Score on DxOMark

Early benchmarks show questionable numbers for Galaxy S9’s Exynos 9810 chip By John Hoff

While optics on Samsung flagship phones have mostly been promising over the years, expectations from the Galaxy S9 duo are high considering how rival iPhone X has come up with a redesigned camera setup.

So why does Digital Trends ultimately side with the $999 iPhone X vs the $720 Samsung Galaxy S9? The S9 Plus has a bigger screen, a bigger battery, more RAM and a better camera and the rest is the same as the S9.

DxOMark credits this impressive score to two features enabled by the Galaxy S9 Plus camera: Dual Aperture and a Super Speed Dual Pixel Sensor.

With all the talk about the Samsung Galaxy S9 possibly coming with a higher price tag, you definitely want to protect it and that is where the S-View Flip Cover comes in. Companies, in order to make the photo and video capturing experience better, come up with smartphones featuring more powerful camera specs than what there was in the previous version. While the phone had scored a record-setting 104 in the photos test, it scored 91 in the videography test, with scope for further improvements. Both the Galaxy S8 and Note 8 were quickly shown to be defeated by photos and video. With the Galaxy S9 being officially announced, though, Samsung fans now have a sneak peek at what they can expect with the upcoming new Galaxy Note. Both the devices shoot on fixed apertures of f/1.5 and f/2.4 where the camera shoots using the f/2.4 and switches to f/1.5 in low-light conditions of less than 100 lux.

Overall, this is explicitly described as the "best performing smartphone display" these expert reviewers have ever tested, with an "Excellent A+" grade.
