Amazon still isn't selling the Chromecast, almost three months after initial announcement

Amazon will soon stop selling all Nest products

The retail giant has essentially stopped selling the search engine firm's Nest products, which is practically a declaration of war.

Online retailer Amazon has decided not to sell any of the new products from Google's smart home division Nest, once its current stock runs out, the media reported. Amazon past year declined to offer some of Nest's newer products like the Nest Cam IQ and latest-generation smart thermostat.

As Business Insider noted, Amazon is still trying extremely hard to sell consumers on its voice assistant, Alexa, apparently in the belief that the technology will eventually become as ubiquitous as smart phones and tablets (two waves it largely missed out on).

Perhaps as a way of mending its relationship with Google, Amazon announced in December of previous year that it would once again stock the Chromecast. And Amazon is also probably looking at creating products that may rival that of Nest, as they have recently acquired Ring, a maker of home security devices. The feud is believed to have first started in 2015 when Amazon pulled Chromecast products from its platform due to a lack of support for Prime Video.

Did Taraji P. Henson drag Ryan Seacrest on the Oscars red carpet?
Hardy went public with her claims against Seacrest last Monday, saying she was subjected to years of "unwanted sexual aggression". But celebs steered clear of the E! host this year after detailed allegations against him came out on Monday.

As a result of Amazon's decision, Nest chose to stop selling any of its products through Amazon, meaning the limited number of Nest devices listed on Amazon today are expected to disappear from the site once current inventory is sold out, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Nest's view is that they would either like to sell their entire product portfolio, or nothing at all, and hence they won't be restocking products after they're sold out from this point on.

It's unclear whether third-party sellers will continue selling Nest gadgets, but Amazon itself will not.

An Amazon rep told Engadget that the company does not have an official response to the report, but she did not deny it either. Google Home and Chromecast were both kicked to the curb to ensure they didn't eat into the sales of Amazon's Fire TV streaming sticks and Echo speakers.
