Putin: Russia will 'never' extradite citizens accused by US

Kremlin spokesman Peskov is seen before Russian President Putin's address to the Federal Assembly in Moscow

President Vladimir Putin has said that the Russian citizens indicted by the United States for election meddling didn't act on behalf of his government, and insisted that Moscow will "never" extradite any of them.

To note, the session came about two weeks before the upcoming presidential election in Russian Federation, where Putin will seek his fourth term of office.

The United States has no extradition treaty with Moscow and can't compel it to hand over citizens, and a provision in Russia's constitution prohibits extraditing its citizens to foreign countries.

Russian president Validimir Putin presented his annual address yesterday.

For years, the Justice Department has supported indicting foreigners in absentia as a way to shame them and make it harder for them to travel overseas.

The office of U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller charged 13 Russians and three firms last month with interfering in the 2016 presidential vote as part of what it called a conspiracy to support Donald Trump and disparage Hillary Clinton.

He also called upon the U.S. to provide some reliable evidence of the alleged wrong-doings by the Russians.

Chinese, US senior officials highlight cooperation to settle trade disputes
Global stock markets fell sharply Friday over worries of a possible trade war following Trump's announcement. Steel producers in Canada, Brazil, Mexico, South Korea and Turkey rely far more heavily on the U.S. market.

"Let them provide some materials, specifics and data".

"It is concerning the direction that's going on in Russia, certainly, the direction of the country, and a number of us over the years have worked to find ways to build a closer relationship between the United States and Russia", Rood said. "What they did specifically, I have no idea".

The Department of Justice is now negotiating with Russian Federation over extradition proceedings, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said during a press conference the day Mueller's charges were announced. Kelly asked, referring to Russia's campaign to interfere in the 2016 USA election.

A U.S. official told the Washington Post that the new policy will focus on ways to meet rising missile threats from Russian Federation and China in regional theaters such as Europe and Asia, where their systems have alarmed the American military.

By some accounts, it was Bannon who pushed for him to gain access to White House policy makers.

The Pentagon so far sees "anything in the regional context as fair game", said the official, who like others spoke on the condition of anonymity because the policy hasn't been finalized.

The Times made several unsuccessful attempts to reach Nader for comment.
