Students Process the Campus Lockdown, Residence Hall Shooting at CMU

James Eric Davis Sr. and Diva Jeneen Davis were the parents of James Eric Davis Jr., a sophomore at the university, who is being sought by police.

The teen was spotted and reported "by an individual on a train passing through the north end of campus shortly after midnight", according to a bulletin on the CMU Emergency Communication website.

Police are still looking for the man suspected of shooting his parents to death inside a CMU residence hall early this morning.

More than 100 officers were searching for Davis, who was considered "armed and dangerous" per a tweet from the city of Mt.

Dispatchers have confirmed that the shooter, James Eric Davis Jr.is now in police custody.

The two victims were found inside a residence hall at the university in Mount Pleasant, about 125 miles (200 km) northwest of Detroit, said Lieutenant Larry Klaus of the university's police force. He was wearing a black hoodie and mustard-yellow jeans, but apparently has been shedding certain clothes since the shooting. Police say his parents had just picked him up from the hospital, where he was taken the day before for suspected drug abuse.

"At some point in the evening he was transported to McLaren Hospital due to what the officers believed may be a drug-related type incident, an overdose or a bad reaction to drugs".
