VAR to be used at 2018 World Cup finals

FIFA 2018 WC

The meeting of IFAB meeting took place at Federation Internationale de Football Association headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland on Saturday, where the members unanimously approved the use of the VAR.

Representatives of the 32 teams that have qualified for the World Cup meeting in the Black Sea resort of Sochi this week voiced confidence that the expected VAR rollout would be a positive for the tournament.

"As of today, the VAR system is part of football", he told reporters.

"We came to the conclusion that VAR is good for football and referees and it brings more fairness to the game".

FC's Mark Ogden talks with Man United's Ashley Young about the use of VAR and his hopes of shortening the time it takes in making decisions.

According to the decision, VAR will be used in four specific cases: goals, penalties, direct red cards and mistaken identity. "If there is a big mistake, it will be corrected". "Perfection I think in our world does not exist", Infantino said at a media gathering.

Next season, VAR will debut in the French Ligue 1.

It has already been implemented in top European leagues including the German Bundesliga and Italy's Serie A - along with tests in multiple other leagues -but opinion is still divided.

Defeat of Congress was our aim in Meghalaya, says Kannanthanam
Here the BJP ally's the Nationalist People's Party (NPP), will be a key player in the formation of government. He said, development of the state will be his main priority.

IFAB, the body that determines the laws of the sport, approved VAR to be used permanently in the sport around the world.

Our position on VAR has been clear and consistent - just as it has been on goal-line technology.

The Ifab statement described the move as an "historic step for greater fairness in football". "People in the crowd aren't sure what is happening".

The Crystal Palace chairman, Steve Parish, has already expressed misgivings about VAR, which has been trialled in 13 competitive games in England in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup. Germany went on to win the last 16 game 4-1. Referees were alerted with a simple yes-no signal to their watches after multiple camera angles judged if the ball crossed the line.

However, the UEFA Champions League will not be working with this technology just yet, saying it is still confusing.

Video assistant referee is an assistant that reviews decisions made by the officials to ensure accuracy by confirming decisions or overturning potential decisions.

The landmark decision leaves much yet to be finalized, such as wording for the amended rules and an exact protocol for operating the system including how to communicate to fans using giant screens inside stadiums.

There were additional decisions taken at the AGM, including allowing the option of an "additional" substitute to be used in extra time, as well as approving the use of electronic and communication equipment in the technical area (small handheld mobile devices), strictly for tactical/coaching purposes and player safety.
