According to CNN, the two other officers are in stable condition and are being treated for gunshot wounds, one in the arm and the other in the shoulder.

According to Missouri Highway Patrol Sgt Bill Lowe, Morton was shot after a 911 call came in from a home near downtown Clinton.

The patrol said shots were fired at the Clinton officers soon after they arrived at the home around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday.

Lowe said it was unclear whether officers killed the suspect or whether he killed himself.

The two women who called 911 were not injured, Sgt. Lowe said.

Morton worked as a full-time Clinton police officer from February 12, 2015, to January 10, 2017. In August, Officer Gary Michael was killed during a traffic stop. He is survived by his parents and siblings.
