'The Defenders' Season 2 Unlikely to Happen, Says Krysten Ritter

Netflix Jessica Jones Season 2

I love Jessica Jones because of the work I get to do and the material as an actress.

David Tennant as Kilgrave in Marvel's Jessica Jones season two (Netflix)What episode does David Tennant return in Jessica Jones season two?

New York City private investigator Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) is beginning to put her life back together after murdering her tormenter, Kilgrave. Hounded by many hapless citizens while others fear her super-human abilities, a case opens up following the death of a fellow superhero (behold, The Whizzer!) which delves into Jessica's own origins she's reluctant to uncover.

To state the obvious: A superhero needs a worthy antagonist to have meaning and goal.

"Like this is a very hardcore, adult show about a character who was a victim and a survivor of awful trauma, sexual assault, she's an orphan", Ritter said. What happens, in short, when the powers certain people develop in response to the violence inflicted upon them are no longer needed? But who, what, how and, most of all, why? One finds oneself psychically ill-equipped to deal with ordinary problems, alienated from everything that seems normal. When the client breaks down crying at this revelation, Jones looks thoroughly ill at ease.

One of the ways Jones' nemesis taunts her is by constantly telling her to smile. By the end, she's pointlessly destroyed a chair, scared everybody, and solved nothing. While new character Pryce Chang (Terry Chen) is an excellent example of masculinity gone bad, he gets old quick. He calls the police. And when she turns to snap a photo of one particularly dingy hallway, Jessica suddenly has a memory of being in this exact building when she was young, crying as she was strapped down to a bed and wheeled into a room where nothing good could have possibly taken place. Ideally, they'd be free to tell the story they want in the time it needs, rather than filling X amount of instalments.

Kasargod: Defacement of Mahatma Gandhi statue - Police arrest BJP worker
Six members of a left-wing student organisation named "Radicals" have been detained by the police in the incident. The police conducted investigations on the basis of CCTV footage near the taluk office and arrested the culprit.

Trish dresses up in her best Jessica-like clothes and heads to set, where Max is everything you think he will be: the kind of one-note dirtbag with no remorse who says Trish "crawled into my bed" when she was a tenth-grader. "I realized that it's hard enough running around when you're 25, but when you're 55, that's harder". She's shot as exhausted and strung out; every part of her droops. How can Jessica have those three lives on her conscience and still insist she's not a killer? So we sat down with the fantastic woman running the show, Melissa Rosenberg, and talked all about that, season two, and more. The monster inside her made flesh by the most monstrous person she knows? After all, his loyalty to Trish and insistence on protecting her no matter what were never in question.

Jessica Jones became an overnight symbol of female empowerment, and Season 2 dives even deeper into the issue.

Who knows if we'll ever actually see these two worlds clash in a way that is satisfying to both fans of the films and fans of the shows, but it sure is a heck of a lot of fun to dream.

Jessica Jones the series can survive without Kilgrave. I like their near-sisterhood. Could this episode stand to be more subtle about this concern? This season is no exception. She thinks they were caused by the vehicle accident that killed her parents since they crashed into a truck full of odd chemicals, but her sister Trish is not convinced.

But there's a lot to like here.

Whatever Rosenberg has brewing for Trish down the line, it's clear Jessica Jones Season 2 is the starting point. "He's dead... You have to take the blame..." What's interesting is that neither - based on early hints - does her archenemy.
