Then you'll see a funky "Mario Time" message, and you're good to go. "After that, you'll have to click on the yellow "?" icon located on the bottom right of your Google Maps app.

Gunman takes hostages at NorCal vets home
Armoured police vehicles, fire engines and ambulances remain on the scene while the hostage situation unfolds. An employee who answered the phone said the shooter had taken three hostages but this could not be confirmed.

This new feature will turn your navigation arrow into Mario while you drive. To celebrate Mario Day, Google will add a limited-time option to introduce a Mario kart as your position indicator when using the Global Positioning System navigation app. Going forward, Mario will be your companion wherever you are driving this week-school, work, restaurant-anywhere. When you reach your destination, he'll add a whoop for emphasis. To celebrate this, Google and Nintendo have teamed up for something special.

As part of the working relationship with Starlight Children's Foundation, Nintendo will provide the latest designs for the foundation's Starlight Brave Gowns. If you say yes, Mario will become your position marker in the app.

According to Google, "We know a true Mario fan when we see one".
