CB Sherman to meet with 49ers

Richard Sherman #25 of the Seattle Seahawks lines up against the Los Angeles Rams at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum

Seattle Seahawks' Richard Sherman (25) eats turkey during a TV interview on the field after the San Francisco 49ers' lost 19-3 in their National Football League game against Seattle Seahawks at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014.

Many have assumed the Pats' interest in Sherman is a no-brainer. Health will surely play a role in the type of contract Sherman receives in free agency.

Still, the Patriots would be well-served to explore the possibility of bringing Sherman into the fold.

The release by the team announcing the move had "parted ways" with Sherman and referred to him as "no longer on the team" and didn't mention whether he could return.

Sherman ended last season on injured reserve because of a ruptured right Achilles.

According to somebody who was at the restaurant, Shanahan dined with Sherman and his wife at Nick's Next Door restaurant in Los Gatos tonight.

The release means Sherman - who is acting as his own agent - can get a head start on finding his next team.

Kristen Wiig Confirmed As Cheetah For Wonder Woman 2
We noticed some chatter about Kristen Wiig ( Bridesmaids ) possibly signing on for a major role in the sequel to Wonder Woman . Director Patty Jenkins confirmed the news on Twitter and said she 'can't wait to finally work with one of my favourites'.

In seven years with the Seahawks, Sherman made four Pro Bowls, earned two First-Team All-Pro selections and won a Super Bowl.

Sherman had surgery to fix his right Achilles in November.

But Sherman said at the Sports Star awards he thought he would be ready for the beginning of mini-camp.

The Colts may be looking for a number one cornerback in free agency.

The Seahawks could also re-sign DeShawn Shead, who like Maxwell is also an unrestricted free agent.

General manager John Lynch recently noted it doesn't take a "savant" to see the 49ers need cornerbacks. He joined the Packers' medical staff past year.

New England enters the weekend with approximately $23 million in cap space, which should enable the team to re-sign Nate Solder and make a run at another prominent player.
